Paris, France
Last weekend, my family came to Paris to visit me! It had been a couple years since I had been to Paris, so it was nice to go back and see it again. I managed to use the metro with my giant suitcase to get to our hotel on Rue Cler. I went to a cafe down the street to get a nutella crepe and wait for everyone to arrive!
Once everyone was there, we went to Notre Dame Cathedral. I never noticed if this was there the last time I went or not, but Jesus’s Crown of Thorns was on display in the back of the church. You can venerate it at 3 pm on each Friday in Lent, so I’m going to go back while I’m here. After finishing up at Notre Dame, my grandma and I went to a croissant cooking class! Boy, is it a lot of work to make a croissant. There’s so much rolling and folding and more rolling. The chef asked Mamaw if she was going to make croissants at home and she said no she was just going to buy them at the store haha. They came out really great!
The next day, we woke up bright and early to go to the Arc de Triomphe! We went up to the top and got a great view of Paris. We walked to the Eiffel Tower, stopping for a crepe on the way! We went up to the second floor to get another view of the city! It was quite windy and cold, but the view was great. After the Eiffel Tower, I got some churros then we on a sightseeing tour on a boat down the Seine. After the boat ride, it was time for more food. We went to a restaurant close by called Firmine. They had Italian food which was really good!! We headed to the Louvre and saw so many amazing sculptures and paintings. My favorite was The Winged Victory of Samothrace.
Next up was the Palace of Versailles! I am always amazed at the size of these palaces. They’re so big and ornate. I liked how the rooms were each dedicated to different gods including Mars, Venus, and Diana. After that, we went back to Rue Cler to have lunch at the little creperie across from the hotel. It was a one man show and he was an adorable little Greek man who made my crepe in the shape of a heart! In the afternoon, we went to Galeries Lafayette to see the pretty stained glass ceiling and all of the shops inside. It was huuuuuuuge.
On my last day, we went to mass at Sacre Coeur. No, we didn’t walk up all those steps. We took the funicular! It was so windy up there I was almost blown away. We got lunch at a cafe up near Sacre Coeur then went to Musee d’Orsay to see some art! We saw some Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, and others. For dinner, Mawmaw got a nutella pizza, which may sound like a lot, but it was really good. That concluded my weekend in Paris! It was so nice to see my family and explore Paris some more.
