My Absolute Darling

Wow. While this book is hard to read, it’s also hard to put down. This novel follows a young girl names Julia, known as Turtle for most of the book, who is subject to horrific abuse at the hands of her father, who is charismatic sociopath and survivalist father. Turtle is victim to Stockholm Syndrome and justifies the actions of her father to those around her. Throughout the novel, Turtle begins to question her life at home and find her voice and power to stand up for herself. Turtle is a charming character, and this story was nothing short of a fantastic read.
