London, again!
I clearly love London… This was my third time back this semester, and it was just as amazing as the first two times. I rode the Eurostar train to get there and because of how busy it was, the only availability was in first class! Oh la la! I got a whole meal on the train so that was nice. I met my friend Mark there and we walked around the city a bit until it was dinner time.
We went to dinner at a restaurant called Wahaca and I had the best tacos ever. I got plantain tacos and the sweetness of the plantains was perfectly paired with some cheese and the tortilla. After dinner we went to a bar called The Alchemist. The drinks there were all chemistry themed! I ordered one and it was served to me on fire! Pretty cool. I took a menu from there because it was pretty and looked like a periodic table.
The next day we went to breakfast at The Breakfast Club. We got off the bus early to take some pictures in front of Tower Bridge. Breakfast was SO good. I was able to get some true American pancakes with berries on top and a tall glass of orange juice.
After walking around Borough Market for a bit, we walked along the river to Tate Modern museum where I saw a painting that looked like Jon Hamm.
Then for the main event: BAO!! Last time I was in London, Jen and Shireen got bao in Chinatown for lunch while I was at Les Mis and they raved about it. I had to come back and try for myself. Bao is basically meat wrapped in steamed dough. The dough is so fluffy and soft it’s like eating a cloud. After bao, I got a doughnut that was so gourmet. It was glazed with huge chunks of cookie and brownie dough.
That night, we went to dinner at this Venezuelan place in Bethnal Green. It was nestled in the arches of a railway bridge. Then we went to the bar in the Shard building called Gong. It was on the 52nd floor of the building and had an amazing view of London. It was a perfect end to a great day!
The next day was Easter Sunday so we went to mass at St. Patrick’s in Soho. I got to see one of the girls I made friends with the first time I went back in January! It was then lunch time, but what to eat? BAO! Yes we went to the same place we went to the day before, Bunhouse. Would highly recommend. We then walked around the market at Covent Garden. I bought a really nice painting but left it on the bus to the airport :( I was so sad to leave London this time because I’m not sure when I’ll be back. The food variety in London is just so vast and every place I went was quirky and fun. London, you are my favorite city in the world!!!
