Buttermilk Waffles
There’s nothing I love more than a homemade breakfast. I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with school, so I thought some comfort food would help, I used a recipe for waffles from The Southern Living Cookbook.
I also has this cute waffle iron that made these heart shaped waffles! It was the perfect feel-good food I needed!
Here’s the recipe
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, separated
2 cups buttermilk (I just used regular milk)
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
Instructions
Step 1
Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
Then combine egg yolks. buttermilk and butter; add to flour mixture, stirring briskly until blended.
Step 2
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form, carefully fold into batter.
Step 3
Bake in preheated oiled waffle iron. Makes PLENTY waffles (around 10).
Apply finishing touches!
Tim and I like to put powdered sugar and semi-sweet chocolate chips :)
