Buttermilk Waffles

There’s nothing I love more than a homemade breakfast. I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed with school, so I thought some comfort food would help, I used a recipe for waffles from The Southern Living Cookbook.

I also has this cute waffle iron that made these heart shaped waffles! It was the perfect feel-good food I needed!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 2 eggs, separated

  • 2 cups buttermilk (I just used regular milk)

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

Instructions

Step 1

Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

Then combine egg yolks. buttermilk and butter; add to flour mixture, stirring briskly until blended.

Step 2

Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until stiff peaks form, carefully fold into batter.

Step 3

Bake in preheated oiled waffle iron. Makes PLENTY waffles (around 10).

Apply finishing touches!

Tim and I like to put powdered sugar and semi-sweet chocolate chips :)
